Private Message accounts enable forum members to send messages to each other, privately. They may not, however, be used to advertise businesses or products (i.e. "spamming) to forum members. For more information, see About Ads & Offensive Messages.
Everyone who registers for the forum is automatically assigned a Private Message (PM) account.
Note: To send a PM to a member or access your own PM account, you must register for the forum (How?), activate your account (How?), and log in (How?).
Because the PM feature is automatically enabled for all members, a PM icon (shown below) appears inside all your message posts, next to your username in the Memberlist, and in your member profile. The buttons will look something like these depending on the style installed for the forum.

Members click this icon to send you a private message (How?). They can also click the New post icon on any of their Private Message pages or the New reply icon inside a Private Message that they have received to reply directly to the sender.

Messages are sent to your PM Inbox, where you can read the message, reply to it, delete it, or save it in your Savebox. You can access your Inbox by clicking a button at the top of any page that reads "x new messages" (where "x" represents the number of new messages in your PM Inbox).
There are many different ways to receive notification of Private Messages. For details about that and all the other features, visit the Related Topics below.
