| Changing Profile Preferences |
You can change the profile options that you selected when you first registered for the forum. You do this by making changes in the profile edit form or by selecting alternate options in the Preferences section of the forum. Instructions for both are included below.
 Note: You must log in before the system enables you to change profile options. How?

| To change options in the profile edit form: |
| 1) |
From the top of any page, click Profile.
The profile edit form appears.

| 2) |
Enter, delete, and/or change any of the information that appears.
Note: To avoid confusion, members can no longer change their username.
 Tip: If you need help understanding the options in the profile edit form, see Understanding Profile Preferences. If you make changes and decide that you want to "erase and start over," click the Reset button at the bottom of the form. |

When you are finished making changes, click the Submit button.
The changes you made take effect immediately.
Tip: If you made changes to information in the Profile Information section of the form, you can check your changes by viewing your profile. How?

| To change options in the Preferences section: |
| 1) |
From the top of any page, click Preferences.
The first page in the Preferences section appears.

In the Profile box (located on the left), select the type of preference you want to change. |

In the corresponding preferences box (located on the right), select the specific options you want to change.
Tip: If you need help understanding the options in the Preferences section, see Understanding Profile Preferences.

Click the Submit button.
Note: You must click the Submit button after you make changes in each individual preferences box and before you navigate to a different one. If you navigate away before clicking Submit, you will lose the changes you made.
The changes you made take effect immediately.
Note: If you change an option in the Preferences section and it does not take effect, it means that a forum administrator has set a fixed option for that preference for all forum members; you cannot override it.
